Jahmal Cole is a tireless volunteer and role model. An advocate for education reform in Chicago, Jahmal is passionate about improving schools and is a frequent speaker at high schools and colleges in the Chicagoland area and across the nation. In 2015, he launched the groundbreaking social impact organization, “My Block, My Hood, My City,” where he takes teenagers from divested Chicago communities on citywide explorations and organizes volunteer service events for the city’s block clubs and residents’ associations. Jahmal is most recently the recipient of the 2019 Champion of Freedom Award presented by Mayor Rahm Emanuel. He was also named by Chicago Magazine as the 2018 Chicagoan of the Year.
